Composition Lessons – Rooted in Tradition, Designed for All Levels
We offer composition lessons backed by decades of composing and teaching experience, grounded in the historic Schola Cantorum tradition. Our pedagogical lineage connects students to a rich family tree of great masters—an artistic heritage we are proud to bring to Calgary.
Our lessons integrate musical analysis with hands-on composition. Students will learn to write music for a variety of mediums, including solo instruments, chamber ensembles, choir, orchestra, and electronics. You may also choose to focus on areas such as choral writing, counterpoint, fugue, and twentieth-century techniques.
No previous experience is necessary. Even if you don't yet read music or play an instrument, you are welcome to begin—your first few months will focus on building a solid foundation in these essential skills.
Lessons are available online or in-person at our home studio in Arbour Lake (NW Calgary).
